Dr. Poonam Verma Assistant Professor, (NET, PhD) has 17 years of teaching and research experience. She has worked in the field of women empowerment, Self Help Groups and micro finance. She has to her credit 12 research papers published in various national and international journals. She has published 2 books in authorship, 3 edited books, 1 conference preceding and 5 book chapters in edited books. She has organized an International Conference, 2 National Seminars, a Workshop on IPR as Organizing Secretary and a Faculty Development Program as Course Coordinator. Dr. Poonam has participated in more than 35 national and international conferences. She contributed about 25 e-contents on Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Digital Library and YouTube. Dr. Verma is also PhD Supervisor since 2019 as well as working as Principal Investigator on a minor research project on 'Women Entrepreneurship' funded by UP Higher Education Council from 2021-2022.
Dr. Jai Prakash Verma Assistant Professor, holds a bachelor and master degree in Economics from University of Allahabad and Ph.D. from Dr. Rammanohar Lohia Avadh University Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. His area of specialization is Environmental Economics. Before to join this college as a faculty in the department of economics, he was a Guest Faculty in CMP Degree College, Allahabad University for 6 years. Dr. Jai Prakash Verma has participated and presented papers in 21 National and 9 International Conference. He has participated and presented paper in International Conference held at University of Paris, France, February 8-12, 2017 and also participated and shared his ideas in a workshop at IIT Bombay. Dr. Jai Prakash Verma has more than 17 years experience in academics and currently he is also a visiting faculty at UP Academy of Administration and Management (UPAAM), Institute of Management Sciences Lucknow University, Uttar Pradesh Sanskrit Sansthanam, Lucknow, and Mukhyamantri Abhyuday Yojana, Govt.of Uttar Pradesh. He has published 10 research papers in International Peer Reviewed Refereed Research Journals. Dr. Jai Prakash Verma has participated in research and training program at University of Paris, France, IIT Bombay and Giri Institute of Development Studies (GIDS) Lucknow.
Department of economics was started when college came into existence in 1997. Initially dept was only offering undergraduate program in economics but since 2009 PG program with 60 seats is also running by the dept. Both programs are in regular mode. Faculty strength of dept is only two. Dr. Sushmita Chandra was the founder head of the dept till June 2014, after that Jai Prakash Verma served as HOD during 2014-16. Ms. Pooja Yadav also served as faculty in the dept during 2014-16 before selected in UPPCS as SDM. Currently, Dr. Poonam Verma is serving as HOD since Feb. 2016.
Department of Economics has organised 4 national and 1 international conference since its inception. Faculties of the department have expertise in their respective fields like econometrics, International Economics, Mathematical Economics & Public issues etc. the result of UG program has been approx. 90% and P G program result are around 95%.
Our dept is one of the best dept among the different colleges affiliated to Lucknow university. The dept remains strongly committed to the vision of the college ‘imparting education that produce sensitive, caring and engaged citizen with a strong sense of social responsibility and deep-rooted humanism.’
Dept provide various tools for teaching learning method like lecture, tutorials, audio-video presentation, group discussion, question bank, supplementary reading list, project work, field work, study visit, web links to various relevant sites and report. Invited lectures, guest lectures are also conducting by the department from different field of experts on contemporary relevant issues. Recently, Prof. Yosef Stainberger from Bar-Ilan university, Israel has delivered a lecture on sustainable development on 15th November 2018 and also interact with the students in the field of agroeconomics.
Student of the dept are performing very well in different career avenues like civil services, banking and academics etc. Jaya Singh (Batch 2017) has selected as assistant manager in Union bank of India. Ajita Saxena (Bt. 2014) as manager HR at SRM univ. Lucknow and many more other students like Pallavi Gupta (Bt. 2016) & Nidhi Shukla (Bt. 2017) has cleared UGC- Net exam and working in academic fields.
