The basic aim of education is not only enabling learners to earn their livelihood and
shaping them into exalted self-reliant citizens by imparting them knowledge but it also concentrates on wider goals of
inculcating humanitarian values and physical, mental and spiritual competence in them. Keeping aforesaid mission and
vision in its core structure and strength since its establishment Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Government Girls PG
College has been recognized as one of the leading higher education institutions in Uttar Pradesh. The Name and the
logo of the college reflect its mission – to provide knowledge in order to “Liberate us from ignorance”
सा विद्या या विमुक्तये (Sa Vidya ya Vimuktaye). All of academic, extra-curricular, co-curricular, administrative and infrastructure
related tasks are carried out in conformity with the Vision and Mission of the institution. The college is
funded and governed by the rules and regulations of the Department of Higher Education, Uttar Pradesh.
Being an affiliated college to University of Lucknow it adopts its course curriculum, syllabus, examination and
evaluation patterns, and students are conferred degrees from the University.
The foundation stone of the college was laid down by Former Prime Minister of India Bharat
Ratna Sri Atal Bihari Vajpayee on 14th
April 1997 and it was formally inaugurated on 3rd October 1997 by him. The college adopted its name from Netaji Subhash
Chandra Bose, unparallel freedom fighter of our nation to express its gratitude to him and to instill the feeling of
national pride in the students.
Situated on main road in prominent area of Aliganj, Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, the college is an abode of modern
and traditional values. It is constructed over a land area of 10886 sq.m. consisting of an administrative block, 38 class rooms,
indoor badminton court, well-furnished library, Subhash Vatika, multipurpose hall, laboratories, smart class rooms and green area.
In 2019 new PG building was constructed with 12 class rooms, faculty rooms, toilet rooms and laboratory room for post graduate
teaching in five subjects.
The college was started with Under Graduate programmes B.A. in 1997, followed by B.Com. in 2001 and B.Sc. in 2005. The institution
witnessed the beginning of the P.G. programs M.A. in Economics in 2009, Sociology and Ancient Indian History in 2010, Home Science
in 2011, in English in 2024 and M.Sc. Zoology in 2019-20. Moreover from session 2023-24, the institution has introduced BBA in
Retail as an apprentice embedded degree program affiliation with University of Lucknow. Since 2013 as IGNOU Study Centre and UPRTOU
the college has gained a high reputation among learners of ODL due to its amicable ambiance, qualified counselors and updated work
culture. Add-on courses for students to raise their knowledge and career enhancement such as CCC, Personality Development, GST and
Tally have been introduced in the college through which many students have been benefitted. To provide support for preparation of
different competitive examinations, the college has been nominated in 2022 as the Study Centre for “Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Yojana”
where different empanelled teachers provide assistance and guidance to the students.
As far as the recognitions of its qualitative education are concerned, different agencies have assessed the college and given
grade and ranking. The college got recognition by the UGC under section 2 (f) in 2002 and 12(B) in 2017. It was accredited by NAAC,
Bangluru in 2007 and 2015 with B grade. In NIRF the college earned 2 star rank with 36.03 score during the year 2022-23.
Under the Central Government Fund schemes RUSA and PM-USHA the college has been provided the funds to enhance the infrastructure
and other research facilities. Under IIC Impact Lectures Scheme the college has received financial assistance to encourage
innovative and entrepreneurial skills of students. Under the Research and Development Grant Scheme of Uttar Pradesh Government
faculty members have received the grants to conduct the Minor Projects in their respective subjects.
The transparent online entrance based admission process, clean examination, well-qualified and research oriented faculty members,
student centric ambiance, the frequent visits of eminent dignitaries, such as, Honourable Governor of U P, Deputy CM, Ministers
of U P Govt. and MLAs and MLCs on various occasions and organization of culture-driven programmes make the college the centre of
excellence and interest in the state and city. More than 20 students have been conferred gold medals and other prestigious
awards in the University and other institutes for their academic and extra-curricular activities. It is also noteworthy that
every year the college develops a plan of action for effective implementation of the curriculum to achieve its vision, mission
and objectives. The principal, in consultation with the members of various committees, prepares comprehensive plans for the
enhancement of institutional performance at the beginning of an academic session. The college sensitizes its staff and students
on issues related to gender, environment etc. through special lectures, group discussions, rallies, NSS, NCC, Rangers etc. The
well-furnished library and well-equipped laboratories aim at enhancing the knowledge and skills of students. Annual magazine Prachi,
Cultural-literary fest UNMESH, Annual Sports Meet organized in the college contribute in grooming of the students.
